Clock Change - Spring Time

Clock Change - Spring Time

How to manage your little ones sleep when the clocks change

The clocks go forward next weekend (28th March 2021) and for most parents this clock change isn’t as scary as the winter one. However to help this transition I recommend you start by gradually adjusting their routine and be sure to change every part of their routine - meal times, nap times etc.

Here’s a few ways to help your little ones adjust -

Start next Friday by putting your baby/child to bed a little earlier.

Split the difference. So if your little one naps at midday, make the nap 12.30 rather than push for the new time of 13.00. This will help make the day more manageable. Same rules apply for bedtime and any other naps.

The quicker you aim for their usual bed and nap time, the sooner they will be back to their normal sleep routine.

Do this for a few days to help your little one adjust and help keep your little one on track.

Remember - with this clock change, it can also be an opportunity to help families with an early riser.

It’s also good to make sure your little one gets lots of fresh air, natural light and exercise to help their body clock adjust to the changes.

Good Luck!
